FORESTRY SCHOOL FOR AUCKLAND
SENATE REFUSES RESCISSION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. Auckland is still favoured by the Senate of the University of New Zealand as the site of the School of Forestry. By a majority decision to-day, the Senate rejected a motion by Mr W. C. Colee (Christchurch) that it should rescind its previous resolution, to the effect that the School of Forestry should be part of Auckland University College. Mr Colee’s motion was supported by South Island members. Following a division on the motion. South Island members said that they regarded the proposed school as a national undertaking, and assured it of Canterbury’s support. The Chancellor (Sir David Smith) said that the Australian expert. Professor S. M. Wadham, had recommended Auckland.
