NEW ZEALAND ROWERS IN SYDNEY
WEIGHT ADVANTAGE IN EIGHTS RACE
(Rec. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 23. The New Zealand eight-oar crew will have a weight advantage of 91b a man over the champion Sydney crew, Haberfield, in next Saturday’s senior eights race at Iron Cove, Sydney. The average weights of the crews are:—New Zealand, 12st 91b; Sydney, 12st 41b; Haberfield, 12st; Leichhardt, list 41b. New Zealand, with an average age of 23, is also the youngest crew in the race. The New Zealand sculler, J. Schneider, who has just broken in a new racing shell, will meet Kevin Webb, winner of the Henley-on-Yarra diamond sculls, on Saturday. With Webb, he will meet the Olympic rower, Merv Wood, in the 2000-metres scratch sculls at the Sydney regatta on Saturday week.
