U.S. NOTE TO EGYPT
(Rec. 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Nov. 22. The United States has protested to the Egyptian Government about the seizure by the Egyptian authorities of the cargo of the United States ship Flying Tiger at Port Said last week. The State Department announced today that the protest had been made on the grounds that the United States does not recognise a state of war between Egypt and Israel and that the seizure was contrary to international practice and the Suez Canal Convention of 1888, which provides that all vessels shall be permitted free transit at all times through the canal The ship was carrying rice and tractors.
