ARMAMENTS FOR GREECE
U.S. APPROVES REQUESTS ATHENS, July 16. The Greek Minister of War (Mr Stratos) has announced that the United States has approved Greece’s requests for United States medium bombers, tanks, flame-throwers, mountain artillery, and heavy machine-guns. Mr Stratos said he hoped to secure more United States financial aid to recruit an army of 350,000 to fight the guerrillas. The Communist Free Greece radio said to-day that the Greek Government had again rejected General Markos’s proposals to end the fighting.
