WHEAT FOR FOWLS

SOUTH ISLAND SUPPLIES EXPECTED SOON The Empire Dirk was scheduled to begin loading about 4000 tons of fowl wheat -at Sydney yesterday, according to information received yesterday from the Wheat Committee, Christchurch. This wheat, which is for the South Island, will be discharged at Timaru and Lyttelton. The supply position is reported to be satisfactory at present, but the daily requirement for New Zealand, of all types of wheat, is approximately 90i tons. A bulk cargo of 9000 tons is being unloaded from the Aldington Court at Auckland by the use of one-ton coal grabs adapted for the purpose, and a special hopper and chute. The Lodestone, which is bringing 5500 tons of fowl wheat from Australia for discharge partly for Auckland and partly for Wellington, is expected in the former port next Tuesday. The Lodestone is also bringing 3000 tons oi blending flour for Auckland mills.
