FOOD FOR BRITAIN
FURTHER SHIPMENT DISPATCHED A further 212 cases of food for Britain, valued at £774 9s Bd, was sent on the Norfolk on Friday, July 9. by the Christchurch District Aid for Britain Committee. The shipment, of a total weight of 11,1261 b, included meat, milk, cheese, suet, soap, honey, jam, fat, glucose, malt extract and soup. This is in addition to the June shipment of 350 cases, weighing 15,8761 b, and valued at £1295 4s Bd. The assistance of the following in making the July shipment of 212 cases possible is acknowledged by the Aid for Britain Committee: —Lodge Acacia, Hawarden; G. L. Bowron and Company; Canterbury Freezing Workers; Independent Order of Rechabites; the Mayor of Akaroa; Mr Newman, Feron and Company; Crown Lodge; Methodist Church, Ashburton; vicar of Sumner; Women’s Institute. Waikari; St. Andrew’s Church, Little River; Mrs Richards; Red Cross headquarters, at Sheffield, Scargill, Waikari, Horrelville, Southbridge, and Hororata.
