OTAGO DENIES CHARGES OF MISMANAGEMENT (P.A.) DUNEDIN, July 14. Charges of mismanagement, and other irregularities, at the Dunedin championship regatta, made by the Wellington and Canterbury Rowing Associations, were denied in a statement by the president (Mr E. V. Fairbairn) at a meeting of the Otago association. Mr Fairbairn said that certain climatic difficulties and the varying of the tide were responsible for some shortcomings in starting. Much difficulty was caused by the lack of co-operation by some crews, a state of affairs which was foreign to. rowing authorities of Otago and Southland. Mr Fairbairn added that members had been surprised that complaints should have been received, because the report of the New Zealand Rowing Association representative at the meeting (Mr M. ( A. Turner) was a complimentary one.
