NEW MILES GEMINI MONOPLANE
AIRCRAFT NOT YET IN SERVICE
A twin-engined four-seater Miles Gemini monoplane, bought by the National Airways Corporation at a cost of more than £6OOO for possible use on the West Coast, has not yet been placed ih service. The aircraft, which arrived in New Zealand nearly six months ago, is still in the corporation’s hangar at Hokitika, and has not been flown for more than 50 hours.
When the aircraft was bought, it was tljought that it might be a suitable replacement for the de IJavilland Fox Moth used on the corporation’s service from Hokitika to Okuru, in South Westland. f The corporation is now reported to be considering selling the machine to the Public Works Department, which already has two Miles Gemini aircraft, one for supply dropping and other work, and the second for fishery patrols in the Hauraki Gulf.
