ACCOMMODATION FOR ROYAL PARTY
TWO CHRISTCHURCH HOMES INSPECTED
‘.‘The Mill House” and “Mona Vale,” the two homes which have been offered by Mr Tracy Gough as accommodation for the King, the Queen and Princess Margaret during thejr visit next year, were officially inspected during the week-end. One visit was paid by the Under-Secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs (Mr J. W. Heenan), whose department will have much to do With the arrangements for the Royal tour, and the other visit was made by a party from the City Council. consisting of the Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews) and Councillors J. E. T£it and J. N. Clarke, accompanied by Mr Heathcote Helmore.
The Mayor said yesterday that the party from the council had reached the conclusion that nothing better in New Zealand, for accommodation,, furnishings, and grounds could be found than the two houses offered. In his opinion they would be most suitable. In the 20 acres of ground there were cottages and other buildings to accommodate members of the staff of the Royal party. '
