CARPENTERS’ DISPUTE
MEETINGS IN WELLINGTON (P.'A. ) WELLINGTON. March 15. Another meeting of the national council of the Federation of Labour was held in Wellington to-day, when the carpenters’ dispute was again the topic of discussion. No report of the proceedings was made available to the press. The council, members ,of which were called to Wellington urgently for a conference yesterday, has now disbanded. but it is understood that the national executive of the federation will discuss its problems with the Prime Minister and the Cabinet at the earliest possible opportunity. Mr Fraser left to-night for Christchurch, and will return here on Wednesday morning. There was an hour’s discussion this morning between the Prime Minister and the federation. Mr Fraser said after the meeting that he had undertaken to get in touch with the Minister of Labour (Mr A. McLagan), who was on his way from Greymouth to Christchurch to discuss the question with him/ He added that the question would also be considered by the Cabinet on Wednesday, which was the earliest time that a meeting of the Cabinet could be held.
