DOMINIE AIRCRAFT LANDS AT GREYMOUTH
A Dominie aircraft landed on the Greymouth aerodrome on Tuesday afternoon and took off two hours later with two passengers. This is the first time that an aeroplane larger than the Tiger Moths flown by members of the Greymouth Aero Club has landed on the field since an embargo was placed on its use by the National Airways Corporation on October 1. The Dominie was sent to Greymouth to transport the Governor-General (Sir Bernard Freyberg) and his aide-de-camp, who have been visiting the West Coast, back to the North Island. It arrived at Greymouth at 1.45 p.m. and left about 2 o’clock for the Paraparaumu landing field
Sir Bernard and Lady Freyberg arrived at the Franz Josef Glacier on Saturday afternoon, and on Sunday visited both the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. On Sunday evening they attended a church service at Franz Josef, where his Excellency read the lesson. Lady Freyberg arrived at Greymouth last evening and will leave to-morrow for Christchurch.
