GREYMOUTH EXAMINATION RESULTS Mr Colin Taylor, representative of the Royal Schools of Music, London, examined 45 candidates at Greymouth this week. In the results which follow the candidates passed in pianoforte playing, except where otherwise indicated. It is against the rules of this college to publish marks, but the names are in order of merit. Where two candidates obtained equal marks, the word “and” is used to bracket. With two exceptions all candidates were pupils of the Greymouth Convent of Mercy. Results:— Grade VII (Advanced). —Distinction: Ula Drummond (violin), Rene Morgan, Raymond Hill (violin). Grade IV (Lower). —Distinction: Ula Drummond (singing), Betty Reynolds, Pauline Hartshorne. Rene Morgan (violin), Marie Murray, Margaret McMillan (violin). Credit: Philip Meade (violin). Isobel Mitchell, Doris Hitchcock. Grade 111 (Transition). —Distinction: Anne Fahey. Grade II (Elementary).—Distinction: Keith Campbell (violin), Alice Bourke, Gordon Worsley (violin), Elva Glen and Isobel Mitchell (violin). Credit: Ngaire James. Pass: May cell Fraser (violin). Grade I (Primary).—Distinction: Janice Low and Shona Me Ara. Anne McQuinn, Marion Eadie (violoncello), Mary Greenhill (violin), Patricia Douglas, Peter Allan (violin) and Jeanette Hughes (violin) Credit: Dawn Beckley and Owen Harrison (violin). Frances Kennedy. Pass: Leslie Mason. Preliminary Grade (total 99, pass 66). —John Hay (violin), Jill Bluett (Miss M. Coburn), Jean Devescovi and Averill Rutherford, Helen Prebble and Jean Schultze (Miss M. Coburn), Kevin Kennedy, Graham Rutherford. Pleasure was expressed by the examiner at the creditable standard and musical appreciation among the candidates who came before him. The general results indicated much capacity for musical development, and the results were most pleasurable, he said.
