DEMOLITION ORDER

Sir,—l see by “The Press” of, October 1 that a demolition order is to be served on Mr Brown in reference to a little house which he has built without permission. Can nothing be done to save the house from being destroyed. when so many people are wanting just such a shelter. How many old people would be glad of such a shelter? I have an old friend living in one sunless back room, with no outlook and sharing cooking conveniences, bathroom and washhouse with three others. How thankful she would be of that convenient, compact little home. Surely the council will not destroy it. Could it not be taken somewhere or even joined to Mr Brown’s house; then there would not be three houses ,on one section. Hoping that something can be done to save the little house when so many people are homeless. —Yours, etc., INTERESTED. October 1. 1947.
