PORTUGAL BANS ALL CAR IMPORTS
(Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON. October 3. Portugal is the latest country to take action to the disadvantage of the British motor manufacturing industry. The “Daily Telegraph” says that Portugal has completely banned all motor-car imports until the Government devises measures to stop imports of luxury models, for which Portugal cannot spare exchange needed for food purchases. Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway are already restricting imports of all but the cheapest British cars.
