UNRRA WORKERS IN CHINA
TWO NEW ZEALANDERS MARRIED Two of the seven New Zealand women now in China with UNRRA have been married since their arrival in China. Elizabeth Wilkinson Catt was married to Laurence John Catt, of East Grinstead, Sussex, England, in Hangchow, Chekiang Province, where both were working with UNRRA. Mrs Catt, who comes from Auckland, was an administrative assistant in the UNRRA office, and her husband was an inspector investigating the use of UNRRA supplies in the province. Upon the completion of their duties in China, they will make their home in England. Valda Markham Duncan, daughter of Mr and Mrs David Markham, of Wellington, was married to Ernest Duncan, UNRRA assistant legal consul, on June 20 at the British Consulate in Shanghai. Mr Duncan comes from Brisbane, Queensland. Other members of UNRRA staff from New Zealand are Misses Kathleen Robinson (Upper Hutt), Patricia Hesp (Levin), Louise Tomsett (Wanganui), Joan Young (Wellington), and Patricia Cross (Feilding), and Messrs Charles Plank (Wellington), Alan Shackleton (Gisborne), who is stationed in Formosa, and William Huse (Wellington), who is a livestock specialist.
