OFFICIAL FIGURE STILL STANDS NEW YQRK, September 14. The British racing driver, r Johh Cobb, broke the world record at the Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, te-day, but his. car was damaged on the initial sprint ahd he was unable to make the return trip within the one hour necessary to claim a record. Cobb covered a mile at 370.78 miles same course in 1939. L was clocked at 378,32 miles an hour over one kilometre. probably be completed in a day or so.*
