COMMUNIQUE. ISSUED IN KHARTUM

EGYPT’S CABINET CALLED TO SPECIAL MEETING (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) CAIRO, September 14. The Egyptian Cabinet Is holding ah extraordinary meeting to-night to consider a report that the ActTng-Gover-nor-Geheral of the Sudan (General Robertson) has issued a communique in Khartum announcing that the-Sudan Government would continue its efforts towards tormina legislative and executive councils ahd would permit no Interference Ih the general policy, The Cairo correspondent of the British United Press says that the communique la taken as a statement that the Government is going ahead with the .economic development of the Sudan without awaiting the Security Council’s decision. There was a Mass demonstration in Alexandria to-day because of the failure of the Security Council to concede the Egyptian claims against ’ Britain. Clubs and stones were used in a clash between police and demonstrating stu-' dents who . shouted ‘‘Down - with Nokrashy Pasha!" - Nokrashy Pasha, the Egyptian Prime Minister, had presented the Egyptian case to the Security Council. . Eventually, the crowds were disparted, but the situation in Alexandria was still tense io-night, and Egyptian police wearing steel helmets were standing by.
