BLEDISLOE MEDAL FOR ORATORY
AWARD TO WELLINGTON STUDENT " The Press ” Special Service WELLINGTON, August 29. With an oration on Thomas Bracken, Mr B. M. O’Connor, Victoria University College, won the Bledisloe Medal oratory contest, which was held in conjunction with the New Zealand University winter tournament. Mr K. O’Sullivan, of Auckland University College, gained second place, speaking on Bishop Selwyn, and the other Victoria University College representative, Mr K. B. O’Brien, whose subject was Timi Kara (Sir James Carroll), was third. The judges were Miss C. S. Forde, M.A., the Rev. M. G. Sullivan, M.A., and Mr E. Casey. There were nine speakers.
