D. H. GRAHAM WINS GOLF TITLE (P.A.) WELLINGTON. August 29. Golf again provided the highlight in to-day’s New Zealand University tournament events, when D. H. Graham (Victoria) beat J. D. Nash (Victoria) at the eighteenth hole of the championship final; Heavy rain during the match in no way impaired the standard of play. Nash went out in 36 to stand 1 up on the national foursomes champion. Graham, never departing from bogey figures, squared the match early in the second half, and the position was unaltered on the last tee. Nash found trouble with his second shot, which fell to the right of the green, and was unable to recover graham had a final round of 74.. 'The golf handicap was won by P. E. Sutton (Canterbury) the plate event by C. W. Caldwell (Canterbury), and the flight handicap by T. Nelson (Otago). Further results were:— Men’s Fencing.—Victoria (29 bouts) 1, Canterbury (24 bouts, 16tf points against), 2; Otago (24 bouts 183 points against). 3; Auckland (19 bouts) 4. Basketball. —Otago 54, Massey 32; Auckland 60, Canterbury 38; Victoria A 53. Victoria B 33: Victoria- B 42, Massey 30; Victoria A 43, Auckland 24; Otago 37. Canterbury 33. Association Football.—Canterbury 5. Lincoln 2. Women’s Hockey.—Otago 11, Victoria B 0; Victoria A 3. Massey 0; Canterbury 1, Auckland 0; Victoria 2, Canterbury 1; Otago 5, Massey 0.
