POSTAL DELIVERY SERVICE

EXTENSION IN BELFAST AREA

An extension of the postmen’s delivery service in the Belfast area was announced yesterday. Commencing on August 1, a postman from the Belfast Post Office will provide a service for the Ouruhia, Stewart’s Gully Kainga, Brooklands, Spencerville, ana White’s Bridge areas. The present postal facilities at Ouruhia and Stewart’s Gully will be abolished, but telephone offices will be provided at those places. About 180 residences will be served in the areas, and the postman will cycle about 20 miles each day from Monday to Saturday The Chief Postmaster (Mr D. R. Thomson) said yesterday that it was important that residents in the new areas should include Belfast in their addresses.
