STEWART’S GULLY
Sir, —The offer of the Stewart’s Gully Company to Mr P. T. Hall proves only what has long been suspected, that it either wants to acquire most of the baches for letting at high rentals, or, by forcing tenants to sell, »♦ can try to collect more commission Personally, I think Mr Hall should accept the offer, providing the company can convince a magistrate before September 30 that a Court order is justified. Then, and only then, would the tenants feel bound to abide by the present absurd condition. —Yours, etc., SHEER WOOD. July 22, 1947. Sir,—l have just read the reply to my letter of July 14, referring to my tenancy at Stewart’s Gully, and find that I was wrong in my statement. It was not 18 years ago that I built the bach. I therefore apologise and hasten to correct my error. On looking up my records I find it was 17 years ago—and seven months.—Yours, etc., P. T. HALL. July 22, 1947.
