IN THE HOUSE

Sir. —No matter how much Mr Mathison (Labour) refers to the depression or quotes prices it still does not alter the fact that to-day we pay exorbitant prices for rubbish, while during the depression we received 100 per cent, quality for our money, at low prices. Mr Baxter believes that security comes first. There can be no security where there is no freedom; but while we have freedom we can always work for security. Any Government wanting to bring in controls wants to take away our independence and therefore cur freedom by making itself the “capitalists.” What New Zealand wants is a government that will* work a system of co-operation without State control and Mr Holland and party are the ones for that. —Yours, etc., DUCK. Reef ton. July 17, 1947.
