POLICE FIRE ON STRIKERS

FIVE KILLED; 23 INJURED (Rec. 10 p.m.) PATNA, June 18. Five persons were killed and 23 were injured when police opened fire against strikers at the Murulidih colliery, at Dhanbad, 150 miles south-east of Patna. The strikers, who have been out for four weeks, tried to cordon off the pithead. The police used tear gas before firing.
