ACCIDENTS
—•— ■ LINESMAN KILLED BY ELECTRIC SHOCK A linesman employed by the Post and Telegraph Department was killed by an electric shock while working on telegraph lines near Cheviot yesterday. He was Colin Ernest George Honeybone, aged 32, a married man, of Cheviot. Mr Honeybone was one of a gang engaged in removing overhead telegraph wires about three miles south of Cheviot yesterday morning. One of the wires came in contact with a high tension power line while Honeybone was holding the end of it. Another member of the gang, Mr A. Cross, received a slight shock, but was not injured. Artificial respiration was tried for about an hour on the injured man. An inquest was opened before the Coroner. Mr H. P. Lawry and was adjourned after evidence of identification had been given by Harold Robert Honeybone, a brother. MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED When he was knocked over by a truck at the corner of Ferry road and Madras street yesterday afternoon, Douglas Alister Collett, aged 24 years, of Sumner road. Lyttelton, suffered a fractured leg. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital at 3.10 p.m.. and his condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
