WELLINGTON BOARD CHAIRMAN

“SYSTEM QUITE SUCCESSFUL” (PA..) WELLINGTON. January 17. The method adopted by the Wel.St. on Hospital Board in appointing visiting staff was widely used and had been quite successful, said the chairman (Mr H. F. Toogood), replying to the criticism by Sir William Fletcher Shaw. He thought Sir William Shaw was looking at the position more particularly from the viewpoint of obstetrics and gynaecology Reappointment was secured by those who had given efficient service, said Mr Toogood, and the reappointment system was one ensuring that those applying for that privilege kept up to date in their practice. No matter how unpleasant it might be not to make a reappointment, it might have to be done from time to time to secure the high standard of service the board expected from its visiting staff.
