AMERICA’S SUGAR RATION
NEW YORK, January 14. A group of Republicans in the United States House of Representatives has asked the Secretary of Agriculture <Mr Clinton Anderson) to discuss with them the sugar ration. A political battle for an increase in the ration is expected. Mr Anderson being opposed to an increase. . . During the war. Canada, Britain, and the United States reached a gentlemen's agreement” to keep their consumption of sugar a head of the population approximately equal. Although sugar is now the only foodstuff rationed in the United States, there js strong political pressure for the abandonment of the “share and share alike” agreement.
