GOVERNMENT OF INDIA

PARTICIPATION BY MOSLEM LEAGUE

(Rec. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 21. ‘‘Although Mr Jinnah did not make a statement after seeing the Viceroy (Lord Wavell) last Monday, political circles feel that the prospects of the Moslem League entering the Interim Government are somewhat better,” says the New Delhi correspondent of ‘‘The Times.”

‘‘The reasons for this feeling are not easily defined, but one report says' Mr Jinnah has been influenced by representations from responsible quarters, including Indian princes, against the danger of involving the country in widespread civil strife. Mr Jinnah, according to this report, is now willing and perhaps anxious for the league to enter the Government, providing some face-saving formula can be found permitting him to tell his followers that he has achieved a moral victory.”
