DROUGHT IN N.S.W.

HEAVY RAIN IN SOME AREAS (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept 20. Rains in the drought areas of New South Wales are continuing, and in some places as much as 250 points have fallen. A large section of the state, however, including the central western plains and northern Riverina and the central Tablelands, has yet to benefit. A partial loss of the wheat crop and continued stock losses are regarded as inevitable. Drought-stricken south-west Queensland is receiving what some graziers describe as the best September rains in living memory. During August more than 1,000,000 sheep and 75,000 cattle were transported by rail in New South Wales.
