WHEAT DEAL WITH N.Z.
FARMERS’ ATTITUDE IN AUSTRALIA DIFFERENCES IN PRICES (Rec. 8 p.m.) SYDNEY. Sept 20. Wheatgrowers would be shocked by the Auckland report of the Australia and New Zealand wheat agreement, said the secretary of the Farmers’ and Settlers’ Association (Mr I. McDougall). He added that the Minister of Commerce and Agriculture (Mr W. J. Scully) would have to explain why the agreement had been made when overseas parity was more than Ils a bushel and when the New Zealand price was 78 Id a bushel. It was typical of Mr Scully’s administration that details of this sale had not yet been disclosed to the public, including growers, through official channels, said Mr McDougall.
