NELSON MEETING
TROTTING
TO-MORROW’S PROSPECTS Stimulant,, which will be driven by J. Carmichael, should top off his list of minor placings since being purchased by Mr H. W. Drewery with a win in the Nelson Trotting Cup at th,e Nelson Trotting Club’s meeting to-morrow. An aged son of Grattan Loyal and Sure, Stimulant raced well last season to register three wins and 13 minor placings, and few pacers in his class can equal his record for consistency. Most opposition to Stimulant may come from Real Nugget, which raced well at the New Brighton meeting, and from Nelsonova, which looked particularly well when he paraded at Ashburton last week. Small fields are carded in the events for trotters and, on recent form, Tell Us, Billy McElwyn, and Monitress should share the major prizes. Most horses at the meeting have two engagements, and form shown in the flrst half of the programme should be a reliable guide to the last four races. Horses in form include:— 11.15 a.m.—Brightwater Handicap: Tell Us, Billy McElwyn, Monitress. Noon—Wakefield Handicap: Highland Dal£, Symetra, Gloxania. 12.45 p.m.—Motueka Handicap: Shepherd’s Brook, Royal Victory, Navy Queen. 1.30 p.m.—Nelson Trotting Cup Handicap: Stimulant, Real Nugget, Nelsonova. 2.15 p.m.—Foxhill Handicap: Tell Us, Monitress, Billy McElwyn. 3 p.m.—Murchison Handicap: Symetra, Highland Dale. Noble Ginnie. 3.45 p.m.—Stoke Handicap: Bobby Burns, Navy Queen, -Taranga. 4.30 p.m.—Riwaka Handicap: Nelsonova, Real Nugget, Stimulant.
