SERVICEMEN AND THE MINISTRY

Sir, —Archbishop West-Watson is disappointed that so few active servicemen have offered for service in the ordained ministry. If thS Archbishop will answer my question, I think that I can enlighten him as to the reason. The clergy of all denominations put on uniform and go to the war areas. When asked why they do not fight, the answer is: “it is against my principles.” My question is: why should it not be against the principles of the flock they lead?— Yours, etc., ' SOCRATES. May 16. 1945.
