THE BANK OF NEW ZEALAND

Sir, —The acquisition of the Bank of New Zealand, under legislation by the Government, in the long view involves much more than State regulation ol money and property; it involves the attempted regulation of the mental progress of the individual. It is a subtle effort to subordinate the individual greatness of a people to the control and direction of a few politicians. Man was created a free, individual entity, The creation of the mass mind, which works with the herd instinct, would be the case in a socialised State, as outlined by the Labour Party in New Zealand. This mass mind, under development, could become as cruel as any condition that has been brought about, and published in the records of history, and can only be built up on the loss of bur individual selfhood and progress of our spiritual mentality. —Yours, etc., . ■ -V S. CRAIGHEAD. May 21, 1945.
