ROAD INTERSECTION
Sir.—l think it will be a shame if the City Council allows the Intersection of Innes road Philpotts road, and Kensington avenue to remain as at present, with its two bends. If a slice of Irnd were cut from the corner of a paddock, to-day without buildings Kensington avenue and Philpott’s road could be made a continuous road with a slight curve, thereby removing a death-trap such as exists to the city’s disgrace at the Draper street and Heywood terrace junction.—Yours, etc., FOOLPROOF. February 18. 1945, [The City Engineer (Mr E. Somers), to whom this letter was referred, said it was generally recognised that main roads should go straight through and that local roads should be staggered with a distance of at least two chains between them. As in this case neither Kensington avenue nor Philootts road would ever be a main road, the course suggested by the correspondent was hardly necessary.]
