SALE OF PROPERTY BY BANK RECEIVERS
LAND SALES COMMITTEE’S DECISION Approval for the sale of property formerly occupied by the Pioneer Pickle Manufacturing Company to Lorraine Estates, Ltd., was sought from the Christchurch Urban Land gale* Committee yesterday by William paol Clarkson and Robert Eric Free, receivers appointed bv the Commercial Bank of Australia. The property is situated in Waltham road, Kingsley and Barbadoes streets. The sale price received by tender ms £14.500. and the sale was approved at this figure, provided that the consideration for the land be £14,000 and for the chattels £SOO, The Crown valuation was £12,635, comprising £11,015 for the buildings, £285 for other improvements, £IOBS for the land, and £250 for the plant. The chairman of the committee (Mr K. G. Archer) said that the committee was entitled to take some cognisance of the fact that the sale was made by receivers, and that people who bought by tender did not usually pay more than a reasonable amount.
