CANTERBURY BEATS OTAGO * “The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN, August 15. The representative hockey match played In fine weather between Canterbury and Otago at the Oval oh Saturday, was won by Canterbury, 4-3. In spite of the heavy going play was fast and the result of the best game seen in Otago for years was in doubt until the end. ' , The Otago forwards combined well and used all the opportunities given them by their line of halves. , . ’ Otago was attacking through most of the first half, but the half-time score was 1 all. For Canterbury. W. .Lamb, A. Kilday. and C. Walters played outstandingly. The goals for Canterbury were scored by R. Lenney. J. O’Keefe, R. Molr, and A. KUday. Otago was attacking strongly at the end of the match, but H. Barnhill made a brilliant save. In a colts'match Canterbury won by 4 goals to 0, and the . senior B grade team beat Otago juniors by 10 goals to 1. SATURDAY’S MATCHES No senior A or senior B grade hockey matches were played on Saturday on account of the senior representatives, colts, and senior B grade teams playing Otago at Dunedin. Under 17 grade.—Trinity 3, Sydenham 2; Selwyn S, Technical I. Under 16 grade.—Selwyn 4, Ridcarton B I; Riccarton A 2, Technical 0; Sydenham 5, Papanui Technical 1; Grammar 2, Trinity 0. Under 15 grade.—Selwyn A 3, Grammar A 3; Technical B 9, Grammar B 0. WOMEN’S HOCKEY The only senior A grade games were trial matches between A and B teams and C and B teams, and during the matches other players were substituted in all teams. Further trials will be played in both senior A and senior reserve grades for the purpose of selecting four teams which will be entered in the South Island tournament, which is being held at Hagley Park on August 26. 27, and 28. Junior A grade.—Christchurch West B 3, Beckenham 1; Selwyn 3. Christchurch West A 1; Avonside 1, Technical 0; Digby’g 5, Rangiora 0; Aranui 2, Debonair 0: Sumner beat Rapanui by default. Junior B grade.—Avonside 1. Rapanui 0: Christchurch West 2, Hornby I; Technical 7. Fendalton 1; Rawhiti 4, Selwyn 0. ASHBURTON TEAM FOR TOURNAMENT The following representative team has been chosen by the selector of the Ashburton Women’s Hockey Association (Mr W. T.
