MISS HOWARD SWORN IN

(P.A.) WELLINGTON* February 24. Miss Mabel Howard, the new Labour member of Parliament for Christchurch East, was sworn in by the Speaker (the Hon. W. E. Barnard) at a short sitting of the House after the opening of the session this afternoon. She was greeted with applause from both sides of the House on returning to her seat in the back of the cross benches.

Another change in the seating arrangements of the House is that the Hon. F. Langstone has vacated his seat on the Government benches in favour of a seat on the, cross benches next to Mr T. H. McCombs.

Mr C. W. Boswell (Labour, Bay of Islands) gave notice of his intention to move the Address-in-Reply motion at the next sitting. Miss Howard will also speak, as seconder.
