AMBULANCE BRIGADE INSPECTED
Members of Lyttelton St. John Ambulance Brigade units, totalling 104, paraded in Norwich quay on Monday evening for the annual inspection. Brigade officers present were Major J. W. Crampton, Assistant Commissioner, Lieutenant F. Rudd. Senior District Superintendent, Mrs M. Cordy, Lady District Superintendent, Miss R. Ferguson, Lady Corps Superintendent and Mr G Dunlop. Corps secretary. The Mayor of Lyttelton (Mr F. E. Sutton), and Mr J. T. Norton, president of the Lyttelton Sub-Centre, wore also present. Units on parade were the Lyttelton Ambulance Division (Mr J. Baines, superintendent), the Lyttelton Railway Ambulance Division (Mr J. McLean, superintendent), the Lyttelton Nursing Division (Miss M. Nystram, superintendent!. Boy Cadets (Mr J. Hcmsloy, superintendent). Nursing Cadets (Mrs F. Boyd, superintendent). Mr W. J. Burgess. District Officer, was in charge of the parade, assisted by Mr H. G. Ablclt, corps officer. After the inspection Major Crampton addressed the parade and expressed satisfaction with the large number present, especially as many of the men were serving in the forces and other men and nurses were working. The Mayor paid tribute to the work of the ambulance divisions under the Emergency Precautions Services, and said that, in proportion to its population, Lyttelton probably had the largest number of ambulance workers of anv town in New Zealand. After (lie parade those attending saw a screening of sound films dealing with the care of the bodv and other instructional subjects. The screening look place in the hall of the Seamen’s Institute.
