The Members’ Handicap also promises to be a close eontesl, the field including Tutcre. who was taken out of his hack engagement. He will have 71h more to carry than last Saturday (seven stone minimum), and will be up against some high-class horses such as Lord Midfield, Bashful Lady, Hearth, The Champ, Palora, Scottish Dale, and Sing Sing His presence will no doubt invest the race with added interest. A strong field is expected to line up for the Oaks Stakes, and will include Foxlcap and Straight Bat, who will be bracketed on the machine. Engaged at Auckland Foremost Junior put in a sensational run in the King George Handicap at Forburv Park on Saturday after losing ground in the early stages, and his fine finishing effort was encouraging in view oi his trip to Auckland. Next Saturday lie is engaged in the Auckland Cup Trial at Ihe South Auckland Club's meeting, and though he will meet strong opposition in Pacing Power, he will need only to have a track that is holding to make a lirave showing. The chestnut gelding has run several good races and it is possible the best lias not yet been seen of him. An Auckland Prospect Philario lias made some improvement in recent months, and there was a lot of merit in his third to Star Ace and Glcnarift in the Victoria Handicap on the opening day cf the recent meeting at Addington. He did 4min 26 2-ssec tor two miles and a repetition of this form should find him on hand at the end of the Waikato Handicap on Saturday. In this race he figures on the limit, 4min 38.-.ec.
