VICE-REGAL VISIT
TO-DAY’S INVESTITURE His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, Sir Cyril Ncwall, accompanied by Lady Ncwall. arrived in Christchurch yesterday afternoon by air from Wellington. and spent last night at the Clarendon Hotel. Major C. J. HollandMartin, military secretary, and Captain H. G. Helmore, M.8.E.. were m attendance. Last evening the Governor-General attended a private function, and. Lady Ncwall was present at a reception in her honour at the Women's Fighting Services’ Club, Lower High street. At 11 o'clock this morning the Gov-ernor-General and Lady Ncwall will bo present at an investiture in the old Provincial Council Chambers, when military and Air Force decorations will be presented. After the investiture a reception will be held by their Excellencies at the Jellicoc Hall. The Vice-Regal party will leave for Wellington by air at 2.30 p.m. Advice that the Governor-General (Sir Cyril Ncwall) and Lady Ncwall propose to pay their first official visit to Geraldine on January 21. has been received by the Mayor (Mr D. C. McKcchnic). It is expected that their Excellencies will arrive by car from Pleasant Point at 11.30 a.m.. and will leave some time during the afternoon.
