Ellesmere R.S.A. —A reply from the Transport Department was received by the executive of the Ellesmere Returned Services’ Association, at a meeting at Southbridge, to a request that the proprietor of a bus service should be permitted to operate a vehicle from Southbridge to Christchurch on Sunday evenings, for the convenience of members of the armed forces who wished 'c visit their homes at the week-ends. Consideration >f the request was promised. It was decided to hold a meeting of the committee, which has in hand arrangements for the association's scheme for providing calves for returned men who wished to take up farming.
