Rural Fire Prevention.—Speaking at a meeting of fire wardens and others interested in rural fire prevention, held at Leeston, Mr E. A. Cooney, chairman of the Canterbury Rural Fire Prevention Committee, said that the Ellesmere County Council was doing more than any other council in North Canterbury to prevent the spread of fires, by ploughing breaks and organising a fire-fighting service.
