290,000 ACRES OF WHEAT

4, COMMITTEE ESTIMATE FOR 1942-43 Though the Government Statistician has not yet published his figures on the 1942-43 wheat acreage, the Wheat Committee’s estimate is about 290,000 acres. This reply was given by the Wheat and Flour Controller (Mr R. McPherson) yesterday when asked about figures published in pamphlets now being distributed as part of the campaign for 1943-44. The pamphlet states that to.achieve the 1943 objective of 350,000 acres, wheatgrowers who are doing their full share will have to be reinforced by farmers not usually wheatgrowers, and that another 60,000 acres will be required.
