COMMISSIONS IN ARMY
AGE LIMIT OF 30 FIXED
POSITION OF MARRIED MEN (P.A.) WANGANUI, September 25. The Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones), when interviewed to-day regarding complaints that married men were ineligible for commissions in the Army, confirmed the fact that the Army has an age limitation of 30 years for commissions. He said, however, that there might be specific cases where the Army required men for some particular work for which they were specially adapted, and in those instances commissions were granted. Concerning a report that Grade II men were debarred from military advancement, Mr Jones said he knew of no rule debarring' Grade II men from receiving commissions, although there might be something in routine orders to that effect. He did not see all the routine orders.
