WOOL AND GRAIN STORE WORKERS
TERMS OF CANTERBURY AWARD With the exception of statutory holi-, days, all matters referred to the Arbitration Court in an application heard in August for a new award in the Canterbury industrial district for wool, grain, hide, and manure stores have been settled along the lines of the present award. The new Cahterbury award will take effect on September 21 and remain in force till April 21 next year. The variation from the present award is that payment will be made for all workers on statutory holidays. In the hearing in Christchurch on August 7, the union Ssked for a 40hour week from Monday to Friday with overtime rates for Saturday work (where a 44-hour week including .four hours on Saturday at ordinary rates can be worked at present); for increased wages; for payment for all workers on statutory holidays and for annual holidays of two weeks after each year of service (one week at present). '
