BRIDGE CHAMPIONSHIP

CHRISTCHURCH PLAYERS SUCCESSFUL Some time ago, an American bridgeplayer, Mr Gordon Allard, who visited New Zealand, gave a cup to the Now Zealand Contract Bridge Association for competition in a pairs championship match. In the competition, held recently, 40 pairs took part. 10 each from Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch. and Dunedin. The winners, now the holders of the Allard Cup. were Mesdames Noel Laver and G, Geddes, of Crockford’s Club. Christchurch with a score of 1145. Mr and Mrs Wilkinson, of Wellington, were second, with 1046J, and the next best scores were Mesdames Goodwin and Mills (Dunedin) 1030 L Mesdames Hodgins and Jackson (Wellington' 1014 i; Mesdames V. L. G. Stapp and H. H. Wauchop (Christchurch), 1008.
