OBITUARY

MRS S. T. MENNEER The death occurred recently at Kaiapoi of Mr 4S. T. Menneer, aged 83 years. Mr and Mrs Menneer celebrated the diamond anniversary of their wedding recently, and on the occasion were honoured by a cablegram from His Majesty the King. MRS G. W. THOMAS 1 Mrs G. W. Thomas, whose death occurred at Akaroa recently, was the widow of Mr G. W. Thomas, Town Clerk of Akaroa for many years, and a Registrar of Electors for the old Ellesmere electorate. Mrs Thomas is survived by a daughter Miss Catherine Thomas, with whom she lived at Akaroa, and two sons serving with the Middle East Forces—Major George Thomas, who is a prisoner of war, and Captain Norman (Paddy) Thomas, who is with the Engineers. The funeral took place yesterday at the Church of England Cemetery, the service being conducted by the Rev. R. P. Andrews.
