JAPANESE DRIVE IN MONGOLIA

LONDON, Sept. 14. Fighting in China is covered by a] Chungking communique, which saysi that the Chinese have made counterthrusts agamst a new Japanese drive in Inner Mongolia. Enemy positions were stormed. The territory in which the fighting is taking place has been in Japanese hands for four years, and it is the second attempt by the Japanese to extend their control to the western areas. The first attempt petered out after Japanese motorised columns had driven many miles across the plains.
