OBITUARY
* MR JOHN READ (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 14. The death h&s occurred of Mr John Read, aged 68 He came to New Zealand in 1901 and had been prominently associated with the Labour movement, having held the position of president of the Trades and Labour Council. He was a member of the executive of the Labour Representation Committee, a director of the Centennial Exhibition, and latterly a member of the National Council of the Patriotic Fund Board. He served for 18 months as a city councillor.
