■ —• - - reorganisation of ADMINISTRATION (0.R.) OAMARIi September 10. In addition to proposals for the. re- 1 organisation of tbe Oamaru Harbour Board’s executive administration, Mr A. C. McLelland has given notice of intention to move, the following,motion at the next meeting of the board;— “That because of overseas vessels being diverted to other ports, with consequent loss of revenue, and the obvious necessity for preserving the good name' and safety of the port, as well as the necessity for the reorganisation of the Harbour Board administration in the light of financial and economic considerations, this board asks Captain H. S. Cox (harbourmaster); to assume the combined duties of harbourmaster and secretary at a salary to be fixed by the board.” A petition is also being circulated in Oamaru requesting that in the interests of the port, the services of a resident harbourmaster' should be retained* It is reported that the petition already contained the signatures of influential men thoroughly representative of industrial and commercial interests.
