STATE GUARANTEE FOR POTATOES

—•. . . 0 AMARU INQUIRY At the request of the Oamaru Emergency Precautions Services, which has interested itself in the growing of potatoes, the secretary (Jtfr Henry Hay) of the Oamaru Chamber of Commerce, sent the following teiegram to the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon, J, G. Barclay):— “We would be glad to know if the Government guarantee of £7 15s a ton for f.a.q. table potatoes applies to surplus which may not be required, there is some doubt amongst growers that they may be left with any surplus.” The Minister telegraphed the following reply:—“ All surplus table potatoes, f.a.q., will be taken over by Government at end. of season at £7 15s a ton.”
